Welcome to the UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH series' Wiki!
The following page details how the text hosted on the website should be formatted, serving as its Style Guide. When it comes to general rules, Wikipedia's Manual of Style can be referenced as well. This, however, is the main guideline when it comes to this Wiki.

Grammar Guide
Generally, follow these rules:
- American English over British English, but one won't be penalized for using the latter.
- Use present tense for every section of an article. If the subject is a bygone character or faction, only use past tense at the start.
- When writing articles, use a professional and non-conversational tone. Internet lingo like shortening "you" to "u" is forbidden. Instead of referring to the reader as "you", say "the player" instead.
- The "UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH" part of game titles must be spelled in all caps when used in citations.
- The titles of games as well as their shortened versions must be italicized.
- The shortened versions of game names must only be used when naming / labeling files or adding trivia when the game's full name has already been mentioned on the page. The shortened versions the wiki uses are as follows:
- The series as a whole - UNI
- UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH - UNIB
- UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH Exe:Late - Exe:Late
- UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH Exe:Latest - Exe:Late[st]
- UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH Exe:Late cl-r - Exe:Late[cl-r]
- UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH II Sys:Celes - [Sys:Celes]
- BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle - BBTAG
Grammar
- Use the Possessive "S".
- EXAMPLE: Chaos' as opposed to Chaos's. Licht Kreis' as opposed to Licht Kreis's.
- The spellings for In-Birth and Re-Birth officially have the word after the dash capitalized as well, so pay attention to that. Other than these two examples, there's no need to capitalize the word after the dash, such as when "(Non-playable)" is listed in a character's Infobox.
- The stories viewed in Chronicle Mode are officially referred to as "Scenarios" and the Arcade Mode stage conversations are officially referred to as "Stories". Thus, "Chronicle Mode Scenario(s)" and "Arcade Story(ies)/Arcade Mode Story(ies)" is how they are called on the Wiki.
- Within parentheses, the sentence or word must start with the first letter capitalized.
Gendered Language
- Use singular they/them pronouns for human characters or affiliated real-life personnel without a specified gender. For non-human characters without a specified gender like Kuu, use it/its pronouns.
- Opt for using "they" instead of "his/her" when it comes to describing things that can happen to both, such as turning into an In-Birth.
- Use gender neutral language when describing affiliated persons regardless of gender.
- EXAMPLE: voice actor for both genders instead of voice actress for just the women.
Names
- Characters are to be referred to with their most commonly used name, so "Wagner" instead of "Erika" and "Phonon" instead of "Yoshiko". Other official aliases and monikers given by other characters can be placed in the "Alias" section of the character Infobox.
- All names must be spelled in the western "given name first, surname last" order. Japanese names that require diacritics will be spelled with them. The exceptions are:
- Miyashiro Erika Wagner, whose official naming order is "Japanese surname first, given name in the middle, German surname last".
- Series character designer and original planner Seiichi Yoshihara, who officially spells his name in English with two "I"s.
- When adding Romaji of names using the Furi template. Then, the original naming order is to be used.
- When referring to a staff member or other related personnel, they must be referred to with their role and then their full name. When being mentioned later, only the surname will be used.
- EXAMPLE: Series battle planner Kamone Serizawa has mentioned that Hyde's 17th color palette among others were made by him. [...] Serizawa additionally stated that colors such as Hilda's 26th color palette and Gordeau's 29th palette were based on his ideas, but made by the sprite artist team.
Linking & Citations
- When linking a Wiki article on another for a topic that has been mentioned more than once, only link it in the first iteration. This rule does not apply to Infoboxes, which have links of their own, and only for the article body itself.
- When linking to any wiki article, do not link to the redirects. If you want to link to the "Abyss" section on the article "Hollow Night", write
[[Hollow Night#Abyss|Abyss]]
instead of[[Abyss]]
. - When it comes to citing sources, everything whose origin can't be discerned immediately from the article must be cited. To give an example; a character's statistics and personality must be cited from the places they appear in, but not their role in a given Arcade Story or Chronicle Mode Scenario if the name of the story, such as "The Sage Cometh In The Night" is clearly visible nearby. The pages "Indulgence Weapons" and "Chaos" possess prime examples on how to label your cited sources from in and out of game story material.
- When citing something at the end of a sentence, the citation will be placed after the dot and not between it and the last word.

Elaboration
If a character page lacks the criteria to include one of the following sections (I.E.; them not being a part of the playable roster, and thus lack Gameplay, Background etc.), they are to be excluded from the page.
Tabs - Use Template:Tabs.
Infobox - The Box at the top of the screen giving out basic information about the given subject.
Bio - A quote coming from the character and then a short description of them, as well as which game they debuted in. No need to use == ==
for this section.
Background - Used for official descriptions taken from the games' English portal sites.
Appearance - A description of what the character looks like. If they, like Linne have multiple major designs, they are to be included as well, though below the most commonly-seen one.
Personality - A description of the character's personality traits. Cite where those traits appear.
Story - The character's history, starting with their Chronicle Mode appearances in chronological order, and then their Arcade Mode appearances, if applies. If the character is like the Autonomic Nerves; Radiata and Reflecta and hasn't appeared in the games proper, only what is known about them is to be listed.
Abilities - Whatever the character is capable of, within combat or not.
Musical Theme - Every musical theme belonging to the character, if applicable. This includes "VS" themes such as Incompatible Relation and ending themes such as Invitation to the ending world if the subject in question happens to be Londrekia.
Introduction Text- The short poem that appears behind the character on the select screen. Sorted from earliest to latest revision.
Creation & Development -A detailing of a character's verified development history. Must include sources.
Gallery - Only for Non-playable characters. Every official image the character happens to appear in. Playable characters get their own gallery pages.
Trivia -Trivia about the character. If it's development trivia, it must be cited.
External Links - For Guest Characters only. Provide a link to their page on the wiki covering their home series.
References - For any references used in the article. Use <''references/>''
to place the references in this section.
Navigation - A link to the Characters Navigation Template.
Categories - Adding whatever categories may apply to the character such as their gender, playability status or if they happened to appear in BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle. Naturally, all character pages must include the characters Category. Characters with an unstated gender such as Kuu or Tempest don't need to be placed in a gendered category.
