Vatista: A man bestowed the power of manifestation to people living in a village.
He was given a place to live in the corner of the village, and from that day, was treated as one of them.
Days passed, with the man settling down among the villagers.
The man did not need much time to pass the manifestations on to the villagers. They trained themselves in the skill and made the manifestations their own.
Though the man was revered as a god, he was not boastful. He remained as quiet and humble as the day he arrived.
Aside from having powers of manifestation, his knowledge of medicine and the bountiful experiences from his journeys were renown, and he was considered a famous sage by the villagers.
As the manifestations spread, life in the village thrived, and became more bountiful under its practice. The people thanked the man, the Hollow God who would prevail over the Hollow Night…
A few days later…
Several villagers came to the house to deliver their offerings of food, but the Hollow God had vanished.
Whether he disappeared into the haze, returned into the darkness of night, or had met with an unfortunate accident, they did not know. They banded together to search for him, but could not find him anywhere.
According to those who had seen him last, he had been seen simply taking a pleasant stroll out of town.
Even after a few days, the Hollow God would not return to the village.
The gift from the Hollow God. The power of manifestation that the village had obtained.
The whereabouts of he who had given it to them were a mystery, and gradually, the name of the Hollow God disappeared.
Some time passed after the powers had been introduced to them. Though unguided, they were able to make the manifestations even more their own. The knowledge continued to spread among family and friends.
However, word would of course come to those who became suspicious of the all too convenient power. It will be the spark that led to war, they claimed.
Everyone feared that this would happen, and so, it was not long before a rule was created.
That no one was to tell of this power to anyone outside of the village.
They could not prevent the spread of gossip, but it was clear to anyone that spreading word of it carelessly would invite disaster.
Nearly everyone agreed to hide this power.
And so the people of the village protected their secret in the shadows.
Time stood eerily still. Other times, it flowed quietly.
The village would continue hiding this power for years…
Until one day, there was a rapid increase in those who could use manifestations. The rumor of a town in which wielders of a strange sorcery lived, slowly but surely spread.
The further it spread, the greater the claims were.
This village eventually became the talk of the large capital to the far east of the village.
The village was referred to as the Village of Secrecy, and was a fanciful tale adored by many.
People from all generations wished to see the village for themselves, and came from all over the region to discover the truths behind the rumor.
Many did so simply for leisure. They wandered into the village, only to leave soon after, having lost interest in the sleepy village with nothing to offer.
However, though rare, those with power would also come, driven by their interest in learning more about it..
In order to gain the power of this sorcery for themselves…
In time, the village would come into conflict with some who would pressure the villagers to unveil their secrets by force, until finally, a villager used this power to eliminate one such outsider.
A small twinkling light of a surreal power. Of sorcery.
On that day, everything changed.
After the rumors were discovered to be true, the rumors spread quickly. The invasions by those who sought to claim their power became much more fierce.
In driving them away with their powers, the villagers spread the rumors even further, which would draw in even more people in turn.
Deadly bounty hunters, armed soldiers, government intelligence, all of them invaded the village to investigate the mystery of the manifestations.
However, it was difficult for humans of normal abilities to hold their own in battle against those with this mysterious power.
The result was resounding victory for the village. The renown of the Village of Sorcery became even stronger as one that did not know defeat.
Because the objective was to uncover its secrets, the village could not be burned down or destroyed. Any situation where the village was angered, or given leverage to negotiate, was to be avoided.
To add, if the rumors were found to be false, the consequences of acting upon them would be irreconcilable. Those anxieties plagued the minds of those who even thought to invade.
Their half-hearted attacks and prolonged invasions continued.
In response to the invasions, which grew more intense by the day, the villagers needed to make a decision.
To run away, or to fight.
It would not be an easy task to leave their home soil and live elsewhere And, though their numbers were great, they were still but human. They were not invincible.
One choice remained. To stay and fight to protect their home.
Though violent in theory, it had been chosen out of necessity. They would hide in the forest that surrounded the village, and stop any intruders from entering.
And so, a vigilante corps was formed of young members of the village who would serve as guardians.
They operated strictly under the night of the moon, their protective blades dancing as shadows of night.
They would come to call themselves the Night Blade.
