The Arcade Mode (アーケードモード), also called Normal Mode, is the first option available on the menu. You play through 10 fights and witness the story of the character you chose. Each stage is randomized, with the exception of the final stage, which is always set at the Altar of Light and Dark. In most cases, Hilda is the penultimate or final boss. Most characters encounter three people on stages 3, 6 and 9 before the final boss, but some have an additional encounter on stage 1.
In UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH II Sys:Celes, Kuon replaces Hilda's role as the common final boss, with the fights normally taking place at the Abyss, the Altar of Eternity. This time, there are only two encounters before the final boss, but their stage placement now varies.

Trivia[]
- In the first game, each character that released in the console version of their debut revision has received their own unique ending theme. Londrekia may be the sole exception, as all versions of UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH Exe:Late cl-r are the same.
- Hilda and Kuon are the only characters to have interactions with everyone in the playable roster, with Hilda possessing said quality in UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH and Kuon doing so in Sys:Celes.
- Merkava is the only character in Sys:Celes to feature a good and a bad ending in his arcade mode, depending on whether you use an Infinite Worth EXS on Kuon or not.
